Skincare, workout clothes, slippers with soles, and my favourite fake tan
I went away for three weeks and arrived home late on Friday with mixed feelings. I’m always happy to be back to sleep in my own bed, but I’m not entirely ready for day to day life to resume. And I’m sorry to be cliché and mention the ‘January blues’, but they’re real, or at least the first couple of weeks feel that way anyway before everything gets going again. January is slow and cold. For me, it’s a very home-centred month, which I actually enjoy, but here are a few things that help.
Good home clothes — I like feeling good in what I wear at home: cosy, but not slobbish. I’ve got my eye on these pyjamas, slippers, and a dressing gown that looks like La Perla but isn’t.
What I wear to work out - I’m not advocating for staying in your workout clothes all day I think getting dressed always makes you feel better, even when you don’t feel like it. But there’s something about a new pair of leggings or a fresh pair of trainers and these are what I bought - The Adanola yoga pants are my go-to, just make sure you click the right length as the regulars are ankle swingers. I also like their Ultimate leggings and just bought them in this plum colour. Skims does a great hoodie , I’ve got it in grey and black, and I wear a medium for a slightly oversized fit. Mid flight I impulse bought these Salomons, but I love a geeky trainer and apparently I love purple now?
A new work bag - I don’t have an office, so my bag essentially is my office. It feels only fair (a tax deduction?) to invest in a new work bag each year. Here are a few I’m considering. This Alaïa bag is my latest fixation arguably small for a “work bag,” but I don’t mind my laptop poking out the top. Staying in the realm of animal print, this is a real find: a vintage Fendi ponyskin bag in amazing condition. Again, your laptop may poke out the top, but I can confirm, having this bag myself, that it’s a necessity and only gets better with age. This Lié Studio tote bag is good and practical, and still fits nicely under your shoulder, I’m into the cream. This Lifiner one is good also.
Winter skin — we all need a little help. I’ve tried a few different peptides, and so far this one from Allies of Skin is my favourite. Also… the best (and most effective) way to beat the winter blues is fake tan. Cheap and amazing is this one from Dove, go for medium to dark, as the light really doesn’t do much. Always use a mitt, and make sure to moisturise your wrists and ankles afterwards for no streaking. For your face, the Tan-Luxe drops are great, but wipe your eyebrows after, product build-up can make them turn quite orange.
I’ll add to the notes if anything else comes to mind, but I’ll leave you here with a link to these Le Monde Béryl shoes-slippers-with-soles… I mean..
